Penso que a Juventude Católica será a salvaguarda do restôlho da se– gunda Guerra Mundial. Se a juventude masculina e femi– nina de todos os países mantiver a as– sência de sua grande Fé, e conservar seus ideais religiosos vivos e puros, nosso caso caber-lhe-á, na verdade, . a tarefa de dar exemplo de um elevado padrão · moral de vida. Aqui na Europa achamos mais prudente ouvir e anotar, mas não nos manifestamos nem pela imprensa, nem pela tribuna . Melhor agora para os católicos é a acção do que a palavra. Devemos tra– balhar pela vitória do Direito sôbre a · Fôrça, tanto pela oração como pelo ~a– crifício e pelo esfôrço. Tanto têm trabalhado todos os ci– dadãos pelo bem comum, que, para nós, ouvir dizer que o dever dos católicos é rezar pela paz do mundo, parece de– sfnteressante e talvês até futil. Não obstante isso, a oração é de um valor e utilidade inéalculavel e , as im, numa vasta corporação como a Igreja Católica, se todos os católicos praticantts se reunissem às orações para ês te grande fim, a paz poderia, na ver– dade, ser vista no horizonte. Ide a ela-vós filhos e filhas, vós esperançosa juventude, orai com fe rvo r e elevai vo sas "Aves" e, graças ao vigor de vossos esforços , ·os resul– tados, nece sàriamente, seguir-se-ão.
